Request for Mini-video contributions for Misophonia Documentary
Note: If you're interested in submitting a 30-second video to be considered for Jeffrey's film, please contact him directly so he can send you a release form to complete with your video submissions.
Dear Video Submitters,
I'm sending this email to all of the submitters at once in an effort to be more efficient with my time...so please excuse my lack of a personal note to each of you. If any of you have questions or want to contact me regarding any facet of the film, feel free to reply to this email...actually, a short reply saying you received this email would be great, just for peace of mind. My hope is that your "diary cam" footage will elicit a different dynamic than the interview style I used in the film. I'm OK with "language" as long as it's not gratuitous; there are times when you just need "that" special word to drive your point home and there will be a few of those from my interviews, but again...they are only to make a point, I'd like to keep the film classy...but real.
Shooting for the film was completed yesterday and editing has already begun. My goal is a Spring release, but by release, I mean a private screening in NYC for all those involved in the film (including you...but unfortunately I don't have the budget to fly you all here, but you're all welcome). I will also start submitting the film to film festivals around the world, in the hopes that we get chosen as an official selection of that event and if so, I plan to attend those screenings and do a Q&A to help raise awareness. If those festivals are near your home town, it's another chance to see the film. In September I plan to release the DVD, which will include the film and special features, such as any video submissions that weren't included as part of the film.
Here are 11 questions/topics, please choose 3-4 that you feel passionate about. Since the audience will not hear or see the question, please make sure your response is in context and stands alone. Unfortunately, I have to ask you to keep the clips between 30-45 seconds max, as to not slow down the film. I can only edit your clips to a point; it looks bad to cut someone mid-sentence, it’s nice to include the complete thought. I know it's a challenge to keep answers short; think of it as you were with someone in an elevator and you had 30-45 seconds to explain to them what it feels like to have miso. If you need inspiration, here's a video from a special young lady, who is also participating in "Quiet Please...". https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EDtF-xJqtFM Please check out her videos and subscribe to her channel...I did.

As far as the tech side of recording clips; even though I've been shooting video for 27 years, I've never recorded myself from a computer, so I don't have much info to share here. A lot of computers have web cams built in, there's usually software to record as well. If there are tech questions, please email me and I'll reach to the others, to see if they have answers. For best results, I would use a DSLR with video capability and then transfer the footage to your computer. I'm hoping for HD footage with a resolution of 1920x1080, but 1280x720 will work as well. Please don't email the video footage, as the file sizes could be high, if you need a dropbox link, let me know, otherwise, any large file transfer service would work, including One Drive, We Transfer and Google Drive. Please use [email protected] as an email address to send any links.
Please write me if you have an issues with that time frame. I'm also including a personal release, please sign it, and scan it or take a pic of it with a cell phone and send it via email or if we're friends on FB, send through messenger. I think I've covered everything, if not...I'm here to help you in any way I can and thank you all for being a part of this. Be real, express yourself, don't hold back... here's your chance to tell the world how it feels to live with this condition and how it affects every facet of our lives.
